Wendell Docteur of Stratford, Connecticut went for a bike ride with a handgun tucked into his waistband. Not surprisingly, the gun discharged and shot him in the leg. Following protocol when treating a patient with a gunshot wound, hospital physicians reported the injury to police. When police interviewed Docteur about his injury, he lied and told them he was attacked by a gang of men wearing hoodies. Eventually he admitted the truth. He was arrested for making a false statement to police, among other charges.
